Original Mai Tai with Homemade Almond Mojo – Exotic & Quick

recipe.header.titleBig

A classic Mai Tai with a rich almond mojo is the epitome of relaxed island vibes in your own home. As a little cat with a taste for fine aromas, I know that the true magic of this cocktail lies in the quality of the almond mojo—the famous orgeat. Instead of using store-bought syrup, today I'll show you how to create an intense aroma from fresh almonds and high-quality ingredients that will take your drink to the next level. This Mai Tai is not only quick to make, but also an absolute highlight for guests or a cozy evening on the balcony. The combination of strong rum, fresh lime, and the nutty sweetness of homemade almond syrup is simply unbeatable. Grab your shaker, it's about to get fruity, exotic, and delicious! I promise, once you've made the almond mojo yourself, you'll never want to use anything else. Come on, let's mix ourselves a vacation in a glass—completely uncomplicated and prepared with love.

Ingredients

Almonds
100  g
Water
200  ml
Cane sugar
150  g
Brown rum
60  ml
Lime juice
30  ml
Ice cubes
200  g

Preparation

1

For the almond mojo, finely grind the almonds (100 g) and toast them briefly in a pan without oil until they smell wonderful.

2

Boil the water (200 ml) with the cane sugar (150 g) in a small saucepan, let the toasted almonds steep in it, then strain through a fine cloth.

3

Allow the resulting almond syrup to cool down.

4

Combine the brown rum (60 ml) with the lime juice (30 ml) and a generous portion of the homemade almond syrup in a cocktail shaker.

5

Fill the shaker with ice cubes (200 g) and shake vigorously until the shaker frosts on the outside – it makes your paws cold, but the result is divine!

6

Strain the finished drink into a glass and enjoy.
