Spicy Swedish-style Glögg - Simple & Quick

recipe.header.titleBig

A warming, spicy Swedish-style glögg is exactly what we need on cold days. As a little kitchen cat, I love this Scandinavian classic because it has a much deeper and more complex flavor than a simple mulled wine. The combination of aromatic spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves, paired with a light sweetness, provides cozy moments when it's storming or snowing outside. What makes this special glögg so unique? We don't use pre-made mixes; instead, we rely on real, whole spices that slowly release their aroma into the red wine. It's child's play to prepare this winter drink at home. Grab your favorite mug, get cozy, and enjoy the scent of Christmas wafting through your kitchen. The best part: it's so uncomplicated that you can quickly create a warm atmosphere even for spontaneous guests. One sip and daily life is instantly forgotten – definitely give it a try, it's pure balsam for the soul!

Ingredients

Red wine
250  ml
Cinnamon stick
1
Cardamom pod
2
Cloves
3
Raw cane sugar
20  g
Orange
0.25

Preparation

1

First, pour the red wine (250 ml) into a small pot over medium heat.

2

Now, carefully add the cinnamon stick (1), the cardamom pods (2), and the cloves (3).

3

Stir in the raw cane sugar (20 g) until it has completely dissolved – meow, that smells wonderful already!

4

Finally, add a slice of the orange (0.25) to the pot and let everything steep for about ten minutes without letting it boil, so the fine aromas are preserved.

5

Pour the glögg through a fine sieve into a mug and enjoy warm.
