Crispy Potato Pancakes with Homemade Applesauce - Easy & Quick

Crispy potato pancakes with homemade applesauce are the definition of soul food that not only warms you up but also tastes wonderfully nostalgic. As a little kitchen cat, I love this dish because it shows how to create a true taste experience with just a few fresh ingredients. The combination of savory, golden-brown fried pancakes and the fruity, gently sweet aroma of freshly cooked apples is a classic comfort food. The best part? You don't need any pre-made products! We prepare everything from scratch. The potatoes are finely grated and the apples are gently stewed to create a harmonious texture. It is very easy to cook and guaranteed to succeed for anyone who loves the scent of freshly fried potatoes. Grab your grater and let's purr in the kitchen together – this dish brings comfort right to your plate.
Ingredients
Preparation
For the applesauce, peel and core the apples (2), cut into small pieces, and stew in a small pot with a pinch of cinnamon (2 g) over medium heat until they fall apart.
Meanwhile, peel the starchy potatoes (400 g), grate them finely, and squeeze out the excess liquid vigorously with your paws or a cloth – this makes them extra crispy later, meow!
Finely dice the onion (1) and mix into the grated potatoes.
Stir the egg (1), flour (20 g), and salt (5 g) into the potato mixture until well combined.
Heat the oil for frying (30 ml) in a pan.
Add portions of the potato mixture to the pan, flatten them, and fry on both sides until golden brown and crispy.
Serve the finished pancakes together with the warm applesauce and enjoy!
