Fritto Misto di Mare - Crispy Calamari & Prawns made easy at home

recipe.header.titleBig

A Fritto Misto di Mare is the epitome of Italian joie de vivre, bringing the flair of the Mediterranean coast directly into your kitchen. As a little foodie, I love this mix of tender seafood, fried in a wafer-thin, golden-brown batter. This dish is surprisingly quick to make and impressive in its purist freshness: crispy calamari, juicy prawns, and a squeeze of lemon make for perfection. Since I value quality, we use no pre-made products and prepare the batter fresh. The secret is the temperature of the oil and the freshness of the seafood. Whether you are looking for a light lunch or want to treat yourself to a holiday feeling, this recipe is incredibly easy and guaranteed to succeed. Grab your apron and let's whip up this magnificent, crispy taste experience together – meow!

Ingredients

Calamari rings
150  g
Peeled prawns
100  g
Flour
50  g
Sparkling water
80  ml
Lemon
1
Olive oil for frying
300  ml
Sea salt
1  pinch

Preparation

1

Thoroughly wash the seafood like calamari rings (150 g) and peeled prawns (100 g) and dry them completely with paper towels – this is my most important tip for extra crispiness!

2

For the batter, whisk the flour (50 g) in a bowl with the ice-cold sparkling water (80 ml) until a smooth coating batter forms.

3

Heat the olive oil for frying (300 ml) in a deep pan until it starts bubbling immediately during a small batter test.

4

Dip the seafood portions into the batter and carefully place them into the hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy.

5

Let the fried pieces drain briefly on paper towels and immediately sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt (1 pinch).

6

Serve the finished dish with a freshly cut lemon (1) and enjoy the zesty taste.
