Grilled Bistecca alla Fiorentina - Italian Delight with Sea Salt & Olive Oil

recipe.header.titleBig

A perfect grilled Bistecca alla Fiorentina is the dream of every meat lover seeking the true taste of Italy on their plate. As a hobby cook with a passion for Tuscan cuisine, I know: less is more! This noble steak stands out for its simplicity—it only needs an excellent piece of beef, coarse sea salt, and high-quality extra virgin olive oil to unfold its full glory. The secret lies in the high heat of the grill, which gives the meat a wonderful crust while remaining deliciously tender inside. No complicated marinades, no unnecessary sauces, just pure, natural enjoyment. Whether you are a grill master or just trying out a thick steak, this method is child's play and guarantees an experience like in a cozy trattoria right in Florence. With just three main ingredients, you conjure up a dinner that is as healthy as it is aromatic. Grab your tongs and let's get started—your kitchen will smell like a Tuscan summer night!

Ingredients

Rump steak
600  g
Coarse sea salt
1  tsp
Extra virgin olive oil
2  tbsp

Preparation

1

Take the (600 g) out of the fridge at least an hour before preparation so it reaches room temperature – this is my most important tip for even cooking!

2

Preheat the grill to the highest heat. Pat the meat dry, but do not season before putting it on the grill.

3

Sear the (600 g) directly over the embers at high heat for about 5 to 7 minutes on each side until a dark, aromatic crust forms.

4

After grilling, remove the meat from the grill and let it rest in aluminum foil for about 5 minutes so the meat juices are perfectly distributed.

5

Only now, generously sprinkle the (1 tsp) over the steak.

6

Finally, drizzle with the (2 tbsp) and serve immediately – meow, simply heavenly!
