Korean Bulgogi - Tender marinated beef, quick & easy

recipe.header.titleBig

Looking for a culinary short trip to Seoul? My Korean Bulgogi is the ultimate comfort food when it comes to tender, sweet and savory beef. As a home cook with a flair for flavors, I love this dish because it is wonderfully uncomplicated yet tastes just like a restaurant dish. The combination of savory soy sauce, a light sweetness, and the aroma of toasted sesame makes this specialty irresistible. Bulgogi literally translates to fire meat – and don't worry, that refers only to the high-heat cooking method, not the spiciness! I'll show you how to mix the marinade from fresh garlic and ginger yourself without any fuss. This recipe is perfect for a quick, healthy main meal that pleases every palate. Grab your pan and let's whip up this Korean original together – meow, it's going to be delicious!

Ingredients

Beef sirloin steak
200  g
Soy sauce
30  ml
Brown sugar
15  g
Garlic clove
1
Ginger
5  g
Spring onion
1
Sesame oil
10  ml
Sesame seeds
5  g

Preparation

1

Slice the beef sirloin (200 g) into very thin strips – make sure to cut against the grain so it becomes butter-tender.

2

For the marinade, whisk the soy sauce (30 ml) with the brown sugar (15 g) in a bowl until the sugar has dissolved.

3

Finely mince the garlic clove (1) and grate the ginger (5 g), then add both to the marinade.

4

Slice the spring onion (1) into fine rings and add a portion of them to the marinade.

5

Let the meat marinate for at least 15 minutes – in the meantime, I’ll clean my paws!

6

Heat the sesame oil (10 ml) in a hot pan and sear the marinated meat until it is beautifully caramelized.

7

Finally, sprinkle with sesame seeds (5 g) and garnish with the remaining spring onion rings.
