Baked Lebanese Kibbeh - Crispy Bulgur Balls with Minced Meat Filling

Baked Lebanese Kibbeh is a true highlight of Levantine cuisine, bringing the taste of the Orient straight into your kitchen. As a little chef, I love the combination of a crispy fine bulgur crust and a savory filling of juicy minced beef and aromatic pine nuts. Although Kibbeh is often considered complex, I’ll show you a wonderful, homemade version that is absolutely foolproof. This oriental specialty is perfect as a satisfying main course or a luxurious snack. We use only high-quality, fresh ingredients – without any pre-made products. Preparing them is fun, as shaping the balls is almost meditative. When the Kibbeh bakes to golden brown in the oven and the scent of oriental spices fills the house, you'll see how easy it is to conjure up such an impressive delicacy. Grab your apron and let's prepare these crispy, savory balls together – it's really child's play and tastes simply great!
Ingredients
Preparation
Cover the fine bulgur (100 g) with a little warm water and let it soak for 15 minutes until soft.
Meanwhile, finely dice the onion (1) and sauté in a pan with some olive oil (2 tbsp) until translucent.
Add the ground beef (150 g) to the onions and fry vigorously until cooked through.
Lightly toast the pine nuts (20 g) and season the mixture with cinnamon (1 tsp) as well as salt and pepper (1 tsp).
Drain the soaked bulgur (100 g) and knead well until a malleable dough forms.
Form small balls from the bulgur dough, make an indentation in the center, and fill with the meat mixture.
Seal the balls, place them on a baking sheet, and bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
