About Us

Welcome to KitchenCat! We're glad you found your way here. Behind this blog is a story full of passion, love, and of course, a whole lot of great food. I'd like to tell you a little more about myself, my family, and the idea behind KitchenCat.

My Passion: Cooking

My name is Richard. Cooking is not just a hobby for me – it's a true passion rooted deep in my heart. For many years I've been experimenting in the kitchen, trying out new ingredients and perfecting recipes until they are just right. There is hardly anything more satisfying than coming home after a long day and conjuring up something delicious.

What excites me most is the diversity of cuisine. From simple everyday meals to more elaborate dishes for special occasions – every meal tells a story and brings people together. That's exactly what I want to share with KitchenCat: my joy of cooking and all the wonderful recipes that have been created in my kitchen. This joy is what motivates me every morning to develop new ideas, always with the goal of offering you something special.

Family First: Cooking Together

My greatest joy in cooking is doing it together with my wonderful wife and our son. In our family, the kitchen is the heart of the home – it's where we meet, laugh, share stories about our day, and create dishes together that delight us all. My son loves helping with cooking, and it fills me with pride to see how he's already developing a real sense for flavors and ingredients.

For us, cooking together is more than just preparing food – it's a form of quality time that we cherish deeply. We plan our weekly menus together, go to the market as a family, and spend hours trying out new recipes. These shared experiences are what bring our family closer together, and that's what I want to share with you. Here at KitchenCat, you'll find not just recipes, but the stories behind them.

Our Love for Scandinavia

Beyond cooking, my wife and I share another great passion: traveling. We love exploring the world and discovering new cultures. Scandinavia in particular has captured our hearts. There is hardly any region that fascinates us as much as the far north. The breathtaking nature, the crisp air, the long summer nights, and the warmth of the people there have enchanted us from the very beginning.

Our travels through Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland have not only given us countless beautiful memories, but also brought many culinary inspirations. Nordic cuisine, with its emphasis on fresh, natural ingredients and simple yet expressive preparations, has had a lasting influence on my approach to cooking. You will therefore certainly find a recipe or two on KitchenCat that was inspired by our Scandinavian adventures. These influences give our blog its very own character.

Mila and Saphira: Our Feline Kitchen Companions

The two cats you see so often on KitchenCat are not just characters – Mila and Saphira exist in real life too, and the two of them are always with us. Mila is our elder, dignified lady – calm, thoughtful, and with an unerring sense for when the food is ready. She has been part of our family for years and has observed many a culinary adventure from a safe distance.

Saphira, on the other hand, is the cheeky, curious younger one who loves to investigate everything up close. She's often the first in the kitchen when we start cooking, sniffing every new aroma with utmost seriousness. Mila and Saphira are our mascots, our daily source of joy, and the secret stars of KitchenCat. We can barely imagine life without them and are happy that you get to meet them through our blog.

Why KitchenCat?

The name KitchenCat was actually an obvious choice: our kitchen, our cats, and our passion for good food – for us, they simply belong together. The idea to start a food blog grew from the desire to document our favorite recipes and share them with others. What started as a small project has since become a true labor of love that brings us joy every day.

At KitchenCat, you'll find recipes for every taste and every occasion. We place great importance on making our recipes easy to follow and suitable even for beginner cooks. Every recipe is thoroughly tested by us before we publish it. We want to make sure that you're just as excited at home as we were when we first cooked it. Your success in the kitchen is our goal and our motivation.

Our Cooking Philosophy

What makes our recipes special is the attention to detail and a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients. We avoid convenience products as much as possible and instead use fresh, seasonal produce, which we prefer to source directly from the market. It's important to us that you can bring not just delicious, but also wholesome meals to the table that are good for you and your family.

At the same time, we want to show you that good food doesn't have to be complicated. Many of our recipes are ready in under an hour and require a manageable number of ingredients. Cooking should be fun, not stressful – that's our conviction, and it's what we want to convey with every recipe we publish on KitchenCat. We look forward to your visit and hope you have just as much fun cooking as we do developing the recipes. Warmly, Richard, his wife, his son, and Mila and Saphira!
